MASTURBATION: A SIN?

Masturbation is pretty common especially among teenagers and most adults.
I won't start giving and going into details about what it is and ways it's done...we sha know what's up.
Anyways I had a discussion with some friends as to if it's a sin to masturbate. It was very much conflicting because even as some frowned and damned the conversation, there were some other valid points made. Some people believed since it wasn't hurting anyone it was all good and fine, others said it's not listed in the commandments....let's talk though.

I'm not sure about the Qu'ran but the bible never really states if it's a sin or not. Most Christians would refer to Matthew 5:27-30 where Jesus speaks against lustful thoughts and says to cut the right hand if it causes you to sin. Well I doubt He was alluding to masturbation, was He?

The truth is, the Bible never explicitly labeled masturbation as a sin. However, we know, whether we choose to accept it or not, that masturbation is as a result of lustful or sexual stimulation and pornographic images. So it's sinful abi?

But there are cases,in marriages where one of the persons involved can't attain the climax or orgasmic state without masturbating. So it begs the question "is it sinful to masturbate alone or it's ok when you do it with your partner?"

Here's my take on it. Under such circumstances, if the person masturbates to deny his/her partner sex, then according to Paul in the book of Corinthians,it's wrong. And if it's due to fantasies from extra-marital affairs, well it fits with the lust Jesus spoke about.  Nevertheless, in a marriage where one can't be satisfied normally, I don't see anything wrong with it. People have physiological differences. It may take a guy 10 minutes to get there and his wife will still be trying to get her groove on. So there's no issue with that. Even some married couples resort to masturbation when they can't be together due to work or some other reasons..I still find no problem with that. It's actually no biggie. But whichever context you present to the average society with very judgemental religious views, trust them to condemn you to hell straight up.

This is just my point of view. Let me know yours. Talk with Krystal :)

Personally, I don't think masturbation is a sin. I would personally encourage any human being turned dog who gets any atom of rape instinct to masturbate the whole day away instead of pouncing on an innocent being in a hidden alley somewhere. If it can get you out of trouble (I can't think of a situation in which it has gotten someone into, unless underage maybe ) then why not? It's better to clear your head and face whatever task ahead of you than to have your brain filled with stimulating thoughts which can lead you into doing something that most likely will be regretted afterwards ; cheating major key. Sub : for the guys.

    1. Well being truthful we know it's wrong, always there is no justification for doing something wrong.. We know well enough that a sin is a sin, be it little or big it's still judged the same way.. Well those with very high libidos definitely should go with what you said.. LOL!! It may help the "human dogs"..

masturbation is not a sin abeg, it helps avoid sins of fornication and adultery as far as i am concerned. healthy masturbation helps relieve stress.

  4. LOL!! This is actually a question only God can give a true answer, but as humans we know what is right and vice versa.. So putting into consideration the guilt attached to doing the above or anything related to it, it is safe to say it is a sin, no matter how you want to bend this you are violating your body with the act.. "You can't sexually abuse or satisfy your self and say it's not a sin now" any objection??

It is a sin because the pleasure of sex should only be enjoyed between a husband and wife (Corinthians 7:3-5 ESV) The husband should give to his wife her conjugal rights, and likewise the wife to her husband. For the wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. Likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. Do not deprive one another, except perhaps by agreement for a limited time, that you may devote yourselves to prayer; but then come together again, so that Satan may not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.), that's how the two connect and build. Sexual pleasure of any kind outside marriage is sin while in marriage its for the couple's not individual pleasure. For men, putting your seed anywhere aside from the woman angers God, for he struck Onan for spilling his seed on the Ground. Now giving your seed as medical sample or not releasing into your wife for the purpose of family planning has good intentions therefore not a sin.

  6. Well, going back to the bible again, it says that our body is the temple of God, also says something about sexual sin being a sin against ur body... I want to believe masturbation is not the proper way to have sex, so can be said to be sin in that context also...#grins
