Weight loss is something almost everyone even celebrities does to look physically fit and well shaped up.
Out of all the methods people use to lose some weight, starvation is one risky business. Nutrition experts have been telling and still keep telling people not to use this measure as it is not only dangerous but also ineffective. People that think that they can lose weight faster by not eating for as long as possible or eating as little as possible have it all wrong.
By the time you starve yourself for long, you can become pretty addicted to not eating at all. You may not even know that you rarely eat at all. You may not even know that you rarely eat at all. That's why people become anorexics and go into therapy. Again by not eating, you put the body under a lot of stress and strain. Starving for long can take away everything that your body needs to survive. Why? The source of energy your body needs is food. Also when you don't take in food for too long, you may start having episodes of uncontrollable eating (a symptom of binge eating disorder) which is unhealthy and can still make you gain more weight. Those who experience this symptom do so because the body is reacting normally to the starvation.
So darlings, though people may have said they lost weight drastically by starving, this method is really not effective. Once your body does not receive its source of energy, it looks for other ways to derive that energy it needs, especially proteins, hence can eat into your muscle cells so as to release the proteins and convert it into energy. Now when the muscle cells are destroyed, water is released and excreted hence your weight loss. Instead of you to lose fat, you retain more of it and lose the muscle that gives you your tone. Even worse, starvation can increase your chances of developing heart diseases and can hinder your performance at work and your personal life (especially your emotional well being)
Learn to lose weight using healthier methods and ensure they are not detrimental to your overall wellbeing.
