MTV celebrated the 25th anniversary of MTV Movie Awards last night, 10th April,2016. The award show was celebrated in a big way and took place at the backing lot of the Warner Bros. Studios with Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson hosting together (those two are a remarkable and hilarious pair).

The award of the night "Movie of The Year" was won by Star Wars: The Force Awakens (that was expected I think). Will Smith also received the Generation Award, which is the highest honor at the MMAs, for his career in acting.

Asides Will, Melissa McCarthy broke the records by becoming the first woman to receive the Comedic Genius Award for her role in last year's movie "SPY".
In her speech, McCarthy referenced the generations of funny women who have paved the way for the golden age of female comedians.  "I may be the first woman to win this award, but I am certainly not the first to deserve it."  Her list of inspiring funny females includes Carol Burnett, Phyllis Diller, Lucille Ball, Whoopi Goldberg, Gilda Radner, Diane Keaton, Lily Tomlin, Bette Midler and her own mother Sandy McCarthy.

Ryan Reynolds bagged two awards for his role in Deadpool {Best Comedic Performance  and Best Fight}.

NWA made waves again after been into Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as Straight Outta Compton won the True Story Award for the telling the true story of the rap group.

The presenters for the night included Charlize Theron, Kendrick Lamar, Chris Hemsworth, Jessica Chastain, Seth Rogen, Zac Efron, Olivia Munn and Gigi Hadid. Ariana Grande and Hasley also performed at the awards show.
